Spread the Joy 2011, A Successful Holiday!

In response to the difficult economic times we have been recently experiencing, we decided to modify our Holiday Program so that even more low-income families are reached.  This year, we asked for your financial support to provide holiday celebrations at each of our more than 35 Family and Senior Resource Centers throughout California.  As a result, every low-income Project Access participant received a festive holiday meal, and every child left with a toy – perhaps the only one they received this holiday season. Thank you for helping us exceed our goal and raise over $20,000! With partners like Telogis, Buy Efficient, Wet Seal, and Wells Fargo we were also able to collect many items from our  Holiday Wish List!

Our hope is that this was a fun and rewarding way to give back to the community, making an immediate positive impact for the 2011 holiday season.   Thank you for your support!

Newport Beach Santa Uprising!

The 6th Annual Newport Beach Santa Claus Crawl that took place on December 10th was a huge success! With over 200 Santas, the event was able to raise over $4,000 for the 2011 Spread the Joy Holiday Program! This is double what was raised last year, and we cannot thank Chris Pope, and his dedicated team of volunteers, enough for their effort and dedication. Thank you to all who participated. Pictures to come soon!

6th Annual Keys to Success Gala

“Inspire your Imagination”

On Saturday, September 24th, 2011, Project Access hosted its 6th Annual Keys to Success Gala. We celebrated the organization’s successes, and highlighted the impact Project Access has on the lives of our residents. Honored at Keys was the Garcia-Angeles Family – our 2011 Family of the Year, as well as six academic scholarship recipients!

The evening’s program, location and honorees were a testament to the theme of the event, “Inspire Your Imagination.” Inspiring your imagination at the Keys to Success Gala were Cirque du Soleil style performers, a martini bar, interactive entertainment, as well as a live and silent auction! Pictures to come soon!

Last year, Project Access impacted the lives of more than 10,400 children, adults and seniors throughout the state of California and it is our goal to make a bigger impact in 2011. Thanks to the funds raised at this event we are one step closer to making these goal a reality!

Fifth Annual Teen Conference – “A Path to Your Future”, points teens in the right direction!

We hosted the 5th Annual Teen Conference, A path to your future,
on Friday, August 19. Participants engaged in workshops that included career
exploration and college life, beyond the classroom. The event took place at
Fullerton College – hosted by the EOPS department. The day kicked off with an
exciting Capoeira Brasil performance. Each teen participated in a campus
tour and a variety of workshops/interactive learning opportunities. Workshops
included “minute to learn it” with established professionals, a career
assessment with representatives from traditional and alternative higher
education options, and a fun filled “talk show” to discuss college life outside
of the classroom.  The day ended with an exciting scavenger hunt to
help participants learn more about the college environment.

Second Annual Tween Conference – “Girls’ Day Out” a success!

Project Access sites participated in nutrition workshops, competed in Jeopardy
® style games to learn the dangers of cyber bullying and were taught a
fitness dance routine to encourage healthy habits. It was a fun day for all!

We hosted our first annual charity golf tournament at Starwberry Farms Golf Club on June 23, 2011. The day was a huge success raising over $108,000 to support Project Access’ programs and services that help keep family members employed, children in school and seniors active.

Aside from a beautiful day of golf, participants were treated to tequila tastings, 2 chances to win a hole in one car, and an exciting helicopter ball drop! Graham Esply-Jones was the lucky winner of the ball drop, and donated $500 back to Project Access. The day continued with a reception, dinner and live auction that featured trips to Belize and Costa Rica!

In 2010 Project Access was able to assist over 10,400 residents throughout the State of California and their goal is to increase that number in 2011. Thanks to the tremendous support of donors, sponsors, volunteers and staff that goal is now well with reach.
